My wife needed a new portrait for a newspaper ad she is running this month for her law firm. This gave me the opportunity to get back at portraiture. This time, we wanted a typical studio style shot. Luckily, my friend has 2 softboxes, 1000 watt lights, and a muslin backdrop. Even more fortunate, he was willing to let me borrow it!
Of the 40 or so shots I took, these were our four favorites:
We ended up going with the third image for the ad. She and her family loved that picture and decided they had to use it.
While I had all the lights setup, I decided to mess around and take a self portrait. Unfortunately, I need a hair cut and I should use a white backdrop instead (my hair blends too much with it).
Definitely a stark contrast to my wife’s happy face!
